Maria Alexiou
Intern, BSc Psychologie
I am currently a clinical psychology intern at ImindU, completing the internship required for my Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology (Research) at Leiden University. As an intern, I have the privilege of working alongside experienced psychologists, participating in intakes, developing treatment plans, and conducting a wide range of clinical assessments, including ADHD, ASD, emotion regulation, intelligence testing (WISC), and symptom screening. Every day, I am learning to think critically, understand each individual as a unique person, and appreciate the complexity of their personal story and needs. I am also gaining insight into the value of a multidisciplinary team approach, recognizing how collaboration enhances the depth and effectiveness of psychological care.
Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in Greece, I strongly believe in creating therapy as a safe space for exploration, self-understanding, and acceptance. I am committed to fostering authentic therapeutic relationships where people feel comfortable sharing their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, so that together we can identify their needs and goals. ImindU aligns with these values while offering exposure to a variety of other approaches such as Schema Therapy, Systemic Therapy, and EMDR, within a holistic framework. This environment allows me to expand my clinical skills, observe the unique strengths of different modalities, and integrate them into my professional development.
Being part of a supportive, collaborative team has deepened my understanding of teamwork in clinical practice, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to meaningful therapeutic care while continuing to grow as a clinician.
